How Taking Care of Your Tires Saves You Money

Replacing tires is another cost to add to the list of things we have to purchase when owning a car. And, when your tires need to be replaced prematurely, you end up spending more money. No tire that will last as long as your car, but, there is a way that you can extend the life of your tires. Follow these tire care tips:

  • Check your tire pressure once a week to make sure they have the right amount of air in them. Over and underinflated tires may cause extensive tread wear to your tires. The proper pressure for your car's tires can be found inside your door jamb.
  • Stay on top of your tire rotations. You should be rotating your tires about every 6,000 miles or so. Tires wear unevenly, rotating the tires to different positions on your car evens out the wear.
  • You also need to get your wheels aligned in order for them to last. The tires on wheels that haven't been aligned tend to wear unevenly, which can cause premature replacement.
